Want to use your bike to get where you need to go? Learn to safely share the road with cars, other bikes, and pedestrians.
CCC1 is a classroom-only event. Participants will be provided with a written curriculum and will be taught: bike handling, hazard avoidance, traffic law, proper lane placement, simple bike maintenance, bicycle selection and fit, gearing and cadence, nutrition and hydration, and proper use of accessories. This class is a prerequisite for CCC2. Class is free and open to the public! Visit link above to register.

DC PARK(ing) Day

This annual event, held nationally, is a demonstration to raise awareness of how much of the public realm is dedicated to cars. For one day, four on-street parking spaces around the city will become temporary parks with festive events, including art, music, and food. Events in Georgetown, Adams Morgan, U Street, and Gallery Place.

CCC2 is an on-bike class. Participants must attend CCC1 beforehand (all classes before 2009 count as CCC1), bring their own bikes, helmets, and water. Participants will learn simple maintenance and adjustment techniques, then practice bike handling and hazard avoidance skills before a supervised group ride on open streets with motorized traffic. Liability waivers will be required. Any participant under the age of 18 must download a waiver and bring it to class signed by participant's parent or guardian.

Potomac Pedalers Touring Club Bike Ride

Bike riders who enjoy rolling, country roads, with little traffic, join the Potomac Pedalers Touring Club, for a picturesque and well supported ride through the backroads of Berrryville, VA on September 20, 2009. There will be a 25 mile, 50 mile, 65 mile (metric century), and 100 mile (English Century). Those who pre-register on line receive a long sleeved T-shirt commemorating the event and a reduced rate. This ride is known for well planned routes past historic sites, and excellent SAG support. Food is available free at four rests stops and, we are serenaded at the finish line by the Clark County High School Band. For a day of beautiful riding and great camaraderie join us in Berryville. The most unique and challenging bike ride in DC! The 50 States ride covers all 50 state streets in all 8 Wards in search of the District of Columbia's statehood. If you are not quite ready to embark on the 50 States Ride you can try the 13 Colonies route, taking you on all the streets named for every one of the 13 original colonies. There's no better way to see the city of Washington by bike.
Amenities for riders include coffee, snacks, and mechanical assistance at the ride start, 3 fully supported pit stops, an optional lunch along the way, and an optional post-ride happy hour in Adams Morgan. Check waba.org for registration information.
